Steampunk and Boudoir
I do not subscribe to the old adage that make-up maketh the woman – the feminist in me abhors the social pressure for us all to conform to “acceptable” ideas of beauty. I do, however, enjoy a pampering and dressing up as much as the next woman and a little make up can make us all “pop” in a photograph.
Mum of two, Elizabeth, came to me because she wanted to remind herself of the girl she was before she had to be a paid-up “grown up” and we had great fun trying out different looks and outfits, from the traditional “mum at the school Speech Day” to steam punk dramatist, to sexy boudoir siren.
The first is a “before and after” shot, not because she’s not gorgeous everyday, but because I want to show you that normal, rounded, “lived-in” women like you, me and Elizabeth have our own kind of beauty, and that it’s worth reminding ourselves now and again! Imagine how, in years to come, you will feel looking back on a gorgeous album of yourself in your prime? Or how your partner would love to see you discovering how you look through their eyes?
Many boudoir clients prefer the result of their sessions to be private, so I would like to thank Elizabeth for being willing to share her images – I think you’ll agree that the fun we had spills out of the photographs.
