Sandra and Rich have had their share of ups and downs through life, and neither expected to be marrying again. They’ve known each other since they were young but, somehow, the time was never quite right for them…until now!
In August I was honoured to be asked to attend their wedding at Normanton. The sun shone, the couple were happy and very much in love and the family were all eager to celebrate with them. During his speech, Rich mentioned that I, to my surprise, was partly responsible for his realisation that Sandra was the woman for him. As part of my 50 Facing 50 project, I made Richard’s portrait – and snapped a few of shots of him and Sandra together. It was seeing the way she was looking at him in that photograph that made him realise what made him happy – needless to say, there are a few blurry shots of that speech!
So I have learned from this lovely couple to never say never again! But I don’t intend to advertise my wedding services in 2016. Portraiture is where my photographic heart lies and where I intend to focus my attention from now on. That’s not to say I won’t consider requests from portrait clients, but I won’t be attending wedding fairs or actively looking for wedding work.
I really enjoyed processing these images and delivering them to Sandra and Richard. Here’s a little slideshow I made for them (press mute before playing if you’re at work!) I wish them a long and happy life together, filled with love, laughter and family, just as their wedding day was.
