Couture Portraits Information

In this increasingly image conscious, socially connected world, I believe that everyone deserves a set of beautiful Couture Portrait images of themselves. My aim is to to show you how others see you – that glorious, divine spark that shines out of your eyes and envelops your loved ones in your unique warmth. Too often, we all come across times in our lives when we lose a little of our spark, when our confidence is a bit low or life is bearing down a little too heavily.  The Couture Portrait experience can help you to remember who you really are – hang a portrait of yourself in your bedroom, or have a gorgeous, private box of prints on hand and you will walk a little taller, knowing what you, in your best light, look like!

Likewise, there are times when we feel on top of the world, in our prime or simply comfortable in our own skin – what better way to celebrate your life than to capture that feeling in print?

Couture Portraits are completely bespoke and can take place in my comfortable natural light studio, or in a location of your choice. I can accommodate up to three people, so if you would like to be photographed with your mum, your sister or a friend, that can be arranged – the only extra fee is for the Hair and Make-up artist for the additional ladies.

When you have browsed the website and decided that yes, you are going to do this for yourself, give me a call, or contact me via the form above. We will put a provisional shoot date in the diary and arrange to meet for a Consultation.

I will not make an appointment without speaking to you and either meeting in person (preferable) or via Skype. This is because we need to get to know each other a little so that you are comfortable with me before you come to the Studio. This isn’t just about capturing your physical likeness – I want to showcase all the different sides of your personality and for that to happen, we need to get beyond superficial acquaintance. Does that sound daunting to you? If I tell you that the tea and cake is on me, does that help? Here’s what one client had to say about her consultation:

“Jo made everything really simple for me. She even talked about jewellery and suggested I take jewellery that meant something to me along to the photo session. It was very nice and I felt extremely comfortable with her.”

We will discuss what you want to get out of the shoot, what to wear and what kind of photographs appeal to you (e.g.: black and white, colourful etc). I will show you an example of the actual Folio Boxes and Albums you can choose to display your images and look through whole shoots – not just selected shots – so that you have an idea of the range of images you will be choosing from. Only then will you make the payment for the Commissioning Fee and the date will be confirmed.

The Shoot

On the day of the shoot you will arrive with a suitcase of outfits. While you spend approximately an hour being pampered by Debbie, my professional Hair and Make-up artist, I will hang your clothes and set up the appropriate backdrops. The shoot itself will take around two hours and Debbie will be on hand for touch ups for the first hour. You will probably be tired after the shoot, but you will look and feel fabulous, so be sure to book a night out!

“It felt a little strange at first but Jo had a wonderful way of helping me to relax with the camera. There was no Victoria Beckham pout type pics which had always put me off having my photo taken in the past. In fact there was no artificiality to the shoot at all.”

“It was like visiting with a friend – so relaxed and so much fun! Nice biscuits, too.”

Approximately one week later, you will come back to the Studio for a viewing of your fully processed and finished images. This is when you will make your selections and buy your products.

“I always look at them and think ‘wow!’ I’d tell anyone to do it. It’s worth every penny as Jo’s photos allow you to see yourself as others see you and that’s quite an amazing thing.”

I operate a two part payment process.

When you are ready to book, your non-refundable Commissioning Fee of £250 becomes payable so that the date we have agreed can be held in the diary. The Commissioning Fee covers your professional hair and make up session, styling and wardrobe advice and my time – your Consultation meeting, planning, shooting, processing, viewing  and preparing your images for print.

Your Folio Box, Albums, Framed prints etc are then charged on order. (All payments must be made before items can be put into production. Informal Payment Plans can be arranged on request).  Artwork for your walls starts at £325. My beautiful collections of matted prints start at £500 and go up from there.

I appreciate there is a lot of information on this page. Please don’t hesitate to call if you have questions, or would like to be put in touch with one of my previous Couture Portrait clients. I don’t do “hard sell”, and my promise is that you will never be made to feel under any obligation. I love what I do – I would love to do it for you!

Business Portraits start at £75 for one head shot.  Gift Vouchers are also available.
